Real talk
Once bought, never bought again
This easel arrives ready to play. No batteries, no screens, no learning curve. Your child opens it and starts creating in minutes. Both the blackboard and whiteboard sides are magnetic, come with 3 paint pots, chalk, wipers and a pen. It's the kind of thing a parent buys once in 1998 and is still in the cupboard in 2025.
You stop replacing broken tat. Your child gets a tool that grows with them from age 3 through 7, and beyond. Hours of real, quiet, creative play in your home or garden.

Questions & answers
Questions parents ask before they buy
Is this the right easel for my 5-year-old?
Yes. Ages 3 to 7 play actively on this. At 3 they're learning to hold a brush; at 7 they're still creating detailed drawings. If buying for a 6th birthday, this is the one. The frame stands 103cm tall, so it fits growing children without adjustment fuss.
What if we try it and hate it?
30-day returns, no questions asked. Send it back and we sort it. Most parents don't; once this is in the home, it becomes the most-used thing in the garden or living room. As one parent told us, 'worth every penny full price'.
Do we need to buy extra paint or chalk?
Not to start. 3 empty paint pots, chalk, wipers, and a pen all arrive in the box. Use acrylic paint from any supplier and refill the pots as they empty. Chalk works straight away.
Will this fall apart after one summer?
No. Solid wood frame, hand-finished, built to take weather and hard play. One customer bought a Jaques game in 1998 and still has it in the cupboard. That's the durability standard here. Not the usual tat from China, as another parent said. If it ever warps or fails, that's what the 30-day returns and our reputation are for.
How much does it cost?
The Kids Art Easel - Wooden Easel & Stand is £67.99 today (down from £91.99). Klarna is available at checkout if you prefer to spread the cost.
What's your returns policy?
30 days, full refund, no conditions. Return it for any reason and we refund in full. We've been standing behind what we make since 1795.

Our story
Making toys worth keeping since 1795.
Jaques of London was founded in 1795. We invented croquet, table tennis, and the Staunton chess set. For 230 years, we've been making things that pull children away from passive entertainment and into active, curious, hands-on play.
We built this easel because we've watched children create for generations. A good easel is invisible: the child doesn't wait for batteries, doesn't struggle with wobbly boards, doesn't look for missing pieces. This one arrives ready. Solid wood doesn't warp like plastic, magnetic boards don't slide or fall off, and because Jaques has been in the business of toys since 1795, we know which details matter. Your child picks it up and starts. You stop replacing broken versions. That's the whole idea.
Toys and games that leave something behind: a skill, a memory, a piece of play that gets passed on.
