Questions & answers

Questions from parents buying this

What age is this actually for?

3 to 7 works best. At 3, they're scribbling and pressing magnetic pieces. By 6 or 7, they're spelling words and drawing stories. It grows with them, which is why it's still in the toy box at 7 when cheaper whiteboards have snapped. made for a 6th birthday, Catherine McCulloch bought this exact one.

How do I know the pieces won't get lost?

They live in the sturdy box between plays. The magnetic pieces stay on the board during play, not scattered across the kitchen. One closed box, one place they belong. You'll actually find them all when you need them.

Does it take a lot of mess out of drawing?

Completely. No paper scraps. No wet paint. Dry-wipe pen and chalk erase in seconds. The lid catches anything that falls. You wipe it clean and move on. John A said it best: 'Not the usual tat from China',this one's built to handle real use.

What if it's not right for my child?

You've got 60 days. Use it. If it doesn't fit, send it back by 31 January 2027, no questions. Jaques stands behind it because we know it works. Leigh Hemmings had hers arrive next day and said it 'saved Christmas'. That's the standard we aim for.

How much does it cost?

The Mini Whiteboard - Educational Toy is £14.99 today (down from £24.99). Klarna is available at checkout if you prefer to spread the cost.

What's your returns policy?

Our story

Making toys worth keeping since 1795.

Jaques of London was founded in 1795. We invented croquet, table tennis, and the Staunton chess set. For 230 years, we've been making things that pull children away from passive entertainment and into active, curious, hands-on play.

In 1795, we made games that brought families together, the kind you'd play for years and pass down. A reversible craft board might look simple, but it's built the same way: solid wood, magnetic surfaces that hold, magnetic pieces that don't roll away, a box that keeps everything together. We don't make toys that break after five minutes. Manda Monium put it perfectly: 'worth every penny full price'. This is the whiteboard your own mum might have had, remade for your child to learn from.

Toys and games that leave something behind: a skill, a memory, a piece of play that gets passed on.
Joe, Jaques of London
