Pieces are still stuck together, as of August 2026
With such a high review score, I did not expect such a respected company to still be suffering from the issue that so many reviews are complaining about, which goes back so many years. But sure enough, as of August 2026, mine had a lot of pieces stuck together. Half the fun was breaking them apart - some more difficult than others - while trying not to hurt my fingers. Definitely not a job for kids. Open it first, break them apart first, then give them to the kids after. Especially considering the plastic wrappers were already broken into, with a few pieces fallen out - I assume this is due to the packer checking to make sure the sticking issue isn't present - if so, they obviously didn't check thoroughly enough, or they were just pretending to do their job. Anyway, the most disappointing thing not the hard-to-unstick pieces, it was the bits of paint coming off the sides, leaving patches of colourless wood, and patches of wrongly-coloured bits on the sides where one colour transferred to another. What a shambles. Manufacturing shortcuts. Terrible quality assurance. There was also quite a noxious smell coming from the petrochemical paint - I assume that'll pass. But from the outside, it looked fantastic wrapped in a black & gold ribbon. There is a saying, it goes something like "fur coat, no knickers" and it describes this product quite well.
