What ages is Original Quoits suitable for?
Children from age 5 upwards can play and compete properly. Adults and grandparents enjoy it just as much, and often more. The throwing distance can be adjusted to suit different ages, so a 5-year-old and a 70-year-old can compete on the same round without either feeling the game is unfair.
Does Original Quoits work on all surfaces?
Best on grass or flat ground. The cross base sits stably without needing to be anchored or pegged into the ground. A flat lawn or park works perfectly, as does a firm sandy beach. Avoid very uneven or sloped ground where the base cannot sit level.
How does the scoring work?
Each post has a number scored into it. Land the rope ring on the post and score those points. Rings that miss score nothing. Each player throws three rings per turn. Agree a target score before you start and the first player to reach it wins. The rules are immediate, no reading required.
Is the wood treated or finished?
The posts and base are smooth and finished with a dark stain. The posts have natural acorn finials. The rope rings are natural chunky rope with sealed ends. The finish is designed to be handled and played with regularly, not to sit on a shelf.
Can Original Quoits be left outside?
Store indoors or under cover when not in use to preserve the wood and rope over time. Original Quoits is designed for outdoor play but is not weatherproof for permanent outdoor storage. Bringing it inside after each session will keep it in excellent condition for years.
