Real talk

Bought once in 1998, still in the cupboard. That's the maths on a Jaques set.

You're not here for a toy that breaks after half term. This Little Healers Doctors Set is packed with 13 wood and felt pieces, a proper canvas crossbody bag, and patient learning cards that spark real conversation about empathy and care. No batteries, no screens, no assembly.

Your child gets open-ended play that teaches listening, problem-solving and kindness. You get a set that'll still be here when their younger siblings or cousins need it.

While they play

What unfolds through play

Looks like play. Works like a lesson.

👂

Active listening

Stethoscope in hand, they learn to listen carefully. Real skill, built into the prop itself.

🧠

Problem-solving

Each patient card is a small mystery. Diagnosis requires thinking, not following a script.

❤️

Emotional intelligence

Role-playing care builds real empathy. They practise kindness as a habit, not a concept.

✋

Fine motor control

Holding tweezers, turning the thermometer, zipping the bag. Grip and dexterity grow naturally.

Get ready for life

Why real play matters

Real brain growth comes from real play.

Unpack and the questions start

What's the stethoscope for? Why does the syringe click? They'll work it out. Open-ended play means they lead.

→

The patient cards turn it into a story

Now they're diagnosing, not just pretending. Each card brings a reason to care, a reason to listen harder.

→

It stays in the cupboard

No batteries dying, no pieces lost to the garden. In three years, every piece is still here. Ready for the next child.

Why this matters right now

Questions & answers

Questions from buyers who've been here before

Is this the right age? I'm buying for a 4-year-old.

Spot on. Ages 3 to 7 get the most from this set. The stethoscope and learning cards work for a 4-year-old right now, and the whole bag stays interesting at 6 and 7 when they're building longer stories. At 8, younger siblings will inherit it.

When does it arrive?

Ships within 2-3 business days. Order by 2pm and it lands Tuesday or Wednesday. If you need it sooner, add a note at checkout and we'll see what we can do. Gift wrapping is available at the cart before you pay.

What exactly is in the bag?

13 pieces: wooden stethoscope (with felt earpieces), syringe, thermometer, blood pressure monitor, tongue depressor, tweezers, otoscope, and 5 smaller tools. Plus the patient learning cards and the canvas crossbody bag. No assembly, no batteries.

Is it really going to last? My last set fell apart.

This is 231 years of design, not trend design. Wood and felt, no plastic hinges or weak seams. It survives because it's simple. One family wrote, 'Not the usual tat from China.' If a piece ever does break, we offer 30-day returns and a 60-day warranty. Most families report the bag and pieces are still here years later.

How much does it cost?

The Little Healers Doctors Set is £29.99 today. Klarna is available at checkout if you prefer to spread the cost.

What's your returns policy?

30 days, full refund, no conditions. Return it for any reason and we refund in full. We've been standing behind what we make since 1795.

Our story

Making toys worth keeping since 1795.

Jaques of London was founded in 1795. We invented croquet, table tennis, and the Staunton chess set. For 230 years, we've been making things that pull children away from passive entertainment and into active, curious, hands-on play.

Jaques has made toys for families since before photography existed. This Little Healers Doctors Set carries that same logic: if a toy teaches something real (empathy, listening, problem-solving) and it's built to survive actual childhood, it wins. No flash, no planned breakage. Wood doesn't trend. It just works for 30 years in a cupboard, waiting for the next small hands that need it.

Toys and games that leave something behind: a skill, a memory, a piece of play that gets passed on.
