Real talk

The swing you buy once.

This isn't the plastic knockoff that cracks by autumn. The seat won't fade in sun, the ropes won't snap after one season, and at 100kg it survives the jump from the climbing frame without a squeak. You're not replacing it in three years.

One hour outside, screen-free, proper tired legs at bedtime. That's the maths that makes parents keep coming back.

Joe Jaques, Jaques of London

Child sat on the swing, mid-play, laughing

Play style

The swing in action

✓ Handles rougher play
✓ Parent-safe to push from behind

Ships within 2-3 business days. Ready to hang by the weekend.

While they play

What it quietly builds

Looks like play. Works like a lesson.

⚖️

Balance and core strength

Swinging engages the whole body. Kids learn to shift weight, hold on, lean back. By age 6 their core is stronger just from being on this for 20 minutes a day.

🧠

Spatial awareness

How high can I go? Where's the ground? What happens if I jump? Outdoor risk play teaches the brain faster than any app.

😌

Screen-free rhythm

Twenty minutes on a swing resets the nervous system. No dings, no notifications. Just rhythm, air, and the sound of your own laughter.

🏃

Outdoor confidence

The garden becomes a place where they can swing alone, climb on and off, test what their body can do. That independence builds fast.

Years

Still swinging, still solid

UV protection keeps the seat from fading. The ropes don't fray. It outlasts the garden furniture you bought at the same time.

Why this matters right now

Questions & answers

Questions before you buy

Which age is this for?

Ages 3 to 10+, honestly. A 3-year-old swings sitting down with support. By 5 they're standing and demanding higher. At 8 they're launching sideways and the 100kg limit still holds. If you're buying for a 6th birthday, this is the one that will see them through to secondary school.

How do I hang it?

Any sturdy branch over 2 inches wide, or a swing frame rated for the weight. Two carabiners, one per rope. Adjust the height using the rope adjustment points, test it with your weight first, then let them swing. Installation takes about 10 minutes if you've never done it before.

Will it fade or break in the sun?

The seat is UV-protected poly-plastic, so it won't fade the way a standard plastic swing does. You'll see some weathering after 5 years, but no cracks, no splintering, no colour loss. The ropes are NY-Tech and rated to 100kg, so they're not the weak point either. Not the usual tat from China, as one parent put it.

What if it doesn't fit our garden or we change our minds?

30-day returns, no fuss. If it's not right, send it back. We've also set up a 60-day warranty covering manufacturing faults, so if a rope comes loose or the carabiner sticks, we'll replace the part.

How much does it cost?

The Premium Childrens Garden Swing Seat is £16.50 today (down from £30.99). Klarna is available at checkout if you prefer to spread the cost.

What's your returns policy?

30 days, full refund, no conditions. Return it for any reason and we refund in full. We've been standing behind what we make since 1795.

Our story

Making toys worth keeping since 1795.

Jaques of London was founded in 1795. We invented croquet, table tennis, and the Staunton chess set. For 230 years, we've been making things that pull children away from passive entertainment and into active, curious, hands-on play.

In 1795, we started making games that outlasted the children who played them. This swing carries that same logic: a seat that doesn't crack, ropes that don't fray, carabiners that lock tight year after year. We've watched cheap swings snap and fade. We've also watched a Jaques set sit in a cupboard for 20 years, pulled out again for a grandchild, and still work. This one is built that way on purpose.

Toys and games that leave something behind: a skill, a memory, a piece of play that gets passed on.
Joe, Jaques of London
