Toys of the Week - Week 8

It’s now just 5 Weeks til Christmas, which means we are announcing our eighth Toy of the Week for you!

In the run-up to the Festive Season, Jaques will be announcing a Top Toy every week based on the best benefits for your little learners.

This week’s Toy of The Week for behavioural boosting is… Our Let’s Learn Shape Patterns

Shaping Up

This toy is both fun and educational. In your puzzle set, you get the picture cards with the stencil of featured animals and objects. Each card depicts the stencilled drawing and the name of the item in English, German, French and Spanish. Children will learn to spell the names of objects/animals in the different languages and will be curious about how to pronounce the words. A fantastic way to celebrate multiculturalism and develop key language skills.

As well as the picture cards, with name association in different languages, your children’s toy set gives them access to a large variety of wooden shaped tiles in 6 bright colours. The idea is that this set plays like a puzzle, where children match up the shapes with the stencilled drawing; positioning them in patterns and making coloured designs as they go!

Geometric Mastery

Our Let’s Learn Shape Patterns set is the ideal way to make learning geometry fun! The idea of the game is for children to use problem-solving skills to select the correct small wooden shapes to place onto the picture cards. Through visual recognition, kids will begin to identify and learn the properties of different shapes, such as the number of sides or number of vertices.

Research suggests that children are better prepared for school-and life-when they can think about and use the tools of basic geometric ideas. To help your kids understanding of geometry grow, teach them the names of the shapes included in our Shape Patterns set. Get them to hold up a shape and say the name of it. You could even work together to make a poster containing pictures of the shapes and their properties.

As well as enhancing knowledge of shape, this Shape Patterns game will help your little learners with colour recognition, fine motor skills and problem-solving skills. What’s not to love?
