Few games companies can claim to have been so influential as Jaques' during the last 215 years.

 

In our two centuries of business, we have invented croquet, Ping Pong, ludo, snakes and ladders, tiddledy winks and - perhaps the games most synonymous with the Jaques' name - Happy Families and Snap which we invented in the 1880's. With illustrations by Sir John Tenniel, chief illustrator of 'Punch' magazine and the original artist for Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, the instantly recognisable faces of Mr Grits the Grocer, Mr Bun the Baker and all the other families have made Happy Families into a worldwide success.

Similarly, his fantastic characters in the fast paced game of Snap have captured the imagination of children for over a century. Easily played by people of all ages, these vividly imagined characters still sell exceptionally well now, more than a hundred years later. Jaques' Snap consists of a deck of plastic-linen finish picture cards with the original designs of Sir John Tenniel.
