Among the multitude of games the Jaques family have invented over our 215 year history - to name but a few, Happy Families, Ludo, Tiddley winks, Snakes and Ladders - it is perhaps Ping Pong that can be counted as our most successful. Originally marketed by Jaques as 'Gossima', it attracted little attention from the public. However, John Jaques III saw the potential in the game, and rechristened it Ping Pong, after the noise the balls make during a game. His entrepenurial instinct was correct: in 1902-03 the game of Ping Pong swept the country, and it soon developed into a fully fledged sport, with clubs and tournaments appearing all over the world. Ping Pong, or Table Tennis as it is often called nowadays, is an olympic sport played by over 300 million people worldwide. Jaques have continued to develop and innovate to keep pace with the meteoric popularity of the game, and we can count ourselves among the finest manufacturers of Ping Pong equipment - our tables have been used at more National, European and World Championships than any other manufacturers. Our long history with the game makes us proud and determined to continue to offer the highest quality products to our customers, as we have for over 100 years. Jaques' first Indoor Table Tennis tables were made in 2 halves with folding legs, and nearly all tables continued in this style until the mid 20th century. Jaques' Club Tournament Table continues this tradition, and has been superbly constructed in this famous design for nearly a century. However, major advances over the years have led us to update the table - a unique super-fast paint finish, providing an unparalleled playing surface; spring lock strut hinges, which lock the struts into position; concealed wheels recessed into the joining edges of each half, which allow easy movement of the table into an upright position; robust solid wooden legs which lock back onto the table rails for absolute stability - that bring our original design into the 21st century. The Championship net and posts set, another unique Jaques' design with a simple wheel adjustment for the net height and tension, is included with the table. Nearly all National and International Associations have chosen this table for their Championships over the years. It is supplied complete with bats and balls, ready for immediate play.
