How The Game Of Gossima Became Table Tennis

In 1890 JJ II invented a game that turned out to be a bit of a non starter - the game was Called Gossima.

This game was played by errecting a net over your dining room table and hitting a cork ball accorss this make shift net with two paddles. The Game never really took off and John Jaques the second retired and handed of the running of the company to the hugely athletic JJ III (John Jaques the third).

John Jaques the third had very much enjoyed playing the game with his father and family and really belivede that the Game had Much more potential than the current Sales suggested. he Thought it might be the name.

He there fore Re-Christened the game "Ping Pong" and later "Table Tennis"
