Playing Happy Families makes for very happy families! This wildly fun card game, invented by Jaques of London in the 1880’s (already a century into the company’s great history!), has been a hit since families started playing it. Why? Well, it has laughable, funny pictures on each set of lovely, durable high quality laminated cards, for starters. And, they’re just not any illustrations.
The Happy Families card game designs were created by Sir John Tenniel, illustrator for ‘Punch’ magazine, and Lewis Caroll’s famous ‘Alice in Wonderland’. The cards’ make kids and parents laugh, provide hours of fun, and the game often livens up group parties of adults, as well.
It’s the same with Snap, another card game that Jaques invented, just as they created Ludo, Snakes and Ladders, and Tiddledy-Winks. The world renowned 215-year-old family-run company introduced croquet to the world, and they still keep families everywhere thrilled daily games like Happy Families. Varieties of the cards are lovingly decorated with the familiar faces of Mr Grits the Grocer, Mr Bun the Baker and others, and indeed make a happy family themselves.
Card game sets of Happy Families come in a stand-alone version, and in dual sets with Snap. The latter are lavishly presented in either a solid Mahogany case with brass fittings or a ravishing Black Walnut box with cream natural leather lining.
