The introduction of croquet in 1851 at the Great Exhibition won John Jaques II a Gold medal and a place in sporting history.
As one of the few sports where men and women play on equal terms, croquet afforded young Victorian men and women opportunity to mingle out of the shadow of chaperones.

Regulation pattern Croquet hoop from Jaques, recommended by the Croquet Association for competition play. One smooth, solid carrot-bottomed hoop. The hoop uses Jaques' unique quad baked and powder coated painted finish for ultimate durability. Each hoop weighs approx. 2kg or about 4 1/2 pounds. 20 1/2 inches tall with 12 inches of clearance above the ground. Opening is 3 3/4 inches.
