a) If a player or official observes that a shot is to be played with any relevant ball misplaced, play shall be stopped and the misplaced ball(s) corrected.

b) If a player or official discovers (within the applicable limit of claims) that a shot has occurred with any ball relevant to the shot misplaced, play shall be stopped, all balls, clips, and deadness shall be corrected to the point immediately prior to the shot, and the player resumes play without penalty.

Budleigh Croquet Club All Set

THE launch of the 2010 season at Budleigh Croquet Club went ahead despite heavy rain

Once we had inspected the lawns it was obvious that play would not be possible until they had a bit of time to dry out.

It was somehow predictable that once the message had been sent out to members the weather improved!

After hasty discussions it was decided to proceed with the official opening at 2pm using Lawn Number Two with the Exmouth Town Mayor striking the first shot of the new season.

Specification for a Croquet Lawn

To be constructed as per a bowling green.

Playing area: 32 x 25.6 m. (35 x 28 yards) minimum.

Extended playing area: 33.8 x 27.4 m. (37 x 30 yards) minimum.
GENERAL


      Agreement to return to original condition any previously grassed areas or tracks and paths, damaged in order to obtain access to site of work.

      No work shall be proceeded with if, in the opinion of the client, the ground is so affected by bad weather that to continue work would be detrimental to the soil condition.

      Each phase of the work must be offered for inspection before being covered up by the next operation.

      Appropriate hand or small machines operations are to be allowed for on areas too small for tractor work.

      All rubbish, stones, weed roots, and other debris collected during the work must be removed completely off the site.

      The operations set out give the contractor the opportunity to price for and to carry out a satisfactory job. Any diversions from these operations must be guaranteed to give similar satisfactory result and will only be permitted after consultation with the client.

      All seeding must be carried out during the appropriate weather conditions, as agreed by the client.
