The Championship set is very much the same as the set used for the first championships. Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and USA took up the game and international Test Matches began. This Jaques Championship set was used, and has been chosen for all Test Matches and Championships ever since. So now you can play Championship croquet on your own lawn! The set has 2 Championship round mallets made of Lignum Vitae with brass rings for extra strength, and 2 square head lignum mallets, fitted with protective Tuftex faces, which aid roll shots. All are fitted with sports grade hickory handles with Carbotec grips. The set of 4 Championship balls are matched exactly for size, weight, and response and are double scored for grip, to aid roll, or stop shots. An attractive canvas ball case is included. The Championship hoops are cast from malleable cast iron and carefully fettled. The hoop drill and mallet are to aid preparation of the hoop holes, after watering. Ball markers and clips are included of course, together with a colourful set of court corner flags. The eight yard line pegs indicate the yard line, a yard in from the court boundaries. Full croquet rules and Anton Gill’s comprehensive book on croquet and its history complete the set, which is packed in a beautiful mahogany finish traditional wooden box.
